Eoin Fairgrieve is widely regarded as one of the world's leading speycasting instructors.

Eoin’s Fairgrieve's teaching philosophy revolves around creating a relaxed and comfortable environment for the student to realise his/her full casting potential.  Eoin analysis each key point of the pupil’s casting cycle and relay to them both the positive and negative aspects of their style.  His intention is to give the caster an understanding of the fundamental principles of each discipline of fly casting and how they relate to more energy-efficient fly presentation.

Speycasting Instruction:

All speycasting instruction takes place on our salmon water on the River Teviot.  The Sunlaws beat is mainly double-banked and 1.8 miles long.  With access to both banks, students can learn all aspects of double handed casting techniques with right or left hand uppermost.  The selection of the correct cast to cover the water not only effectively and but of equal importance, safely.

Single-Hand Instruction:

Single-handed instruction is based at our well-stocked trout lake, where students learn basic to advanced casting techniques with a single-handed rod including overhead and roll casting as well as the double haul.  With nine casting platforms surrounding the facility, the lake is an ideal environment to learn fly casting and fly fishing.
